Trumansburg came in second in the sectional tournament on Thursday, and qualified Jay Bartishevich (6-1,6-2 in finals) for continued play in Binghamton on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders first doubles team of Charlie Woodward and Noah Seifert lost in the finals to Elmira Norte Dame’s Jon Leseur and Matt Siriani, 6-4, 6-3. Lansing’s Jesse Ingall and Dan Zarate won their first round matches but fell in the next round.

IAC Playoff picture
The previously clear as mud picture is coming into focus here at the end of the season. Thomas A. Edison clinched the Division II title last week. Candor’s loss on Monday makes them far from a sure thing for the wild card berth, but they still have a chance.
That ties directly into the Division I title. Lansing plays Waverly on Saturday at noon at Thomas A. Edison for the outright title. Lansing has clinched a berth win or loss, but will take the title with the win. Candor has a better IAC record than Waverly and, as long as they beat Elmira Notre Dame (a team coach Steve Frye said is not having a “Norte Dame” season), will earn the wild card with a Waverly loss, otherwise Waverly takes it.
As for Division III, Groton was eliminated by Marathon this week, but that doesn’t mean it won’t play a key role in deciding the title. Groton plays Marathon, who is tied in losses for the title with Moravia. If Groton wins that game at home at 10:30 a.m. they will eliminate Marathon. If Marathon wins they will play a playoff against Moravia for the title.
As for softball, that much easier. Division I is Elmira Norte Dame, Division II is Tioga, behind Sara Wayson’s 200 plus strike outs this season, and Division III is Southern Cayuga. Newark Valley leads the wild card by a game over Edison, but must beat Tioga to clinch it outright. The girls’ tournament will be held at Spencer-Van Etten on May 21.
