Odessa-Montour 6- Candor 2
Kristen Cleveland had two hits, including a solo homer and a run scored as Candor fell in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Division II contest.
Trumansburg 6- Dryden 1
Kaitlyn Percey led the Blue Raider attack on both the pitching and hitting front, striking out 12 and hitting a home run. Geena Fiore added two hits in the win.
Micaehla Rotunda had three hits for Dryden. Caitlyn Potter went the distance and picked up a hit on offense.
Southern Cayuga 9, Newfield 1
Karrie Snyder recorded the lone hit and run and also stole two bases for Newfield who fell to 0-9 this season. Emilie Cipriano walked three and struck out five for the Trojans, who play at Groton on Friday.
Baseball
Trumansburg 5- Dryden 0
Ben Robertson did it all in the Blue Raider victory. Robertson pitched a complete game shut out scattering two hits and three walks, while striking out nine. Robertson also added two hits and a triple for Trumansburg. Skylar Fairchild went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while Kyle Fellows and Kieth McMillen each added 2 hits.
Dryden’s best offensive chance came when Corey Goodenough hit a two-out single that just escaped past the Trumansburg outfield. A late stop sign by Dryden coach Kim Brown caused Pat Perkins to slow up just enough when rounding third to get thrown out at home.
T-Burg is now 6-5 and visits Groton today. Dryden falls to 4-6 overall, 2-3 in Division 1, and 4-4 in the IAC and travels to Lansing on Saturday for a 1:30 start. Trumansburg will play Lansing following the end of the Dryden game at 4 p.m.
Newfield 24- Southern Cayuga 2
The Trojans smacked 23 hits including nine for extra bases in the blowout. Zak Stamp went four inning for the win striking out six and adding a home run to his own cause. Jevon Pakkala and Anrew Milicic each struck out the side in an inning of work and Niko Nunez closed out the game with two strike outs in the final inning.
Kyle Newhart added two doubles for Newfield and Mike Armstrong hit a double and a triple in the victory. Zach Giampaolo also got his first hit at the varsity level.
Newfield moves to 4-2 inĀ the division with the victory and has another important divisional game against Groton on Tuesday.
Candor 13, Odessa-Montour 3
Cody Little and Jake Tubbs each collected four hits and a RBI for the Indians. Casey Smith pitched three innings for the win.
Candor improved to 4-1 in the IAC and 10-1 overall with the win.
Thomas A. Edison 17- Spencer-Van Etten 4
The Panthers dropped to 4-6 with the loss to undefeated Edison. Geoffry Hall picked up the loss for the Panthers, lasting 3 2/3 innings.
Tennis
Lansing 7- Union Springs 0
The Bobcats swept in straight sets, with Tyler Engels and Jesse Ingall bumped up to second and third singles, respectively, while Jonathan Sun won his match at fourth singles.
Trumansburg 7- Moravia 0
Kyle VanDelden and Seth Lutter teamed to defeat Kate Davis and Matt Richards, 6-1, 6-3 at second doubles for Trumansburg.
The Blue Raiders are at Elmira Notre Dame today for a match up of undefeated teams.
Golf
Lansing 207- Union Springs 215
Jess Esposito medaled with a 1-over-par 37 leading a sharp Bobcats team in handing Union Springs thier first loss of the season.
Craig Esposito (38), Austin Moore (40) and Conor Stanhope (41) provided the match’s next three lowest scores for Lansing who improved to 6-2.
Moravia 232- Spencer-Van Etten 250
Zach Koksi picked up his first varsity birdie on the par-5 No. 4 for Spencer-Van Etten in the loss.
The Panthers host Union Springs on Friday.
Girls track and field
Lansing 75- Trumansburg 66
Chloe Ryan and Ryan Cretney were each won three for the Bobcats. Ryan took the 100, 200 and long jump and Cretney was first in the 1,500, 800 and 3,000.
Lansing is at the Odessa Invitational on Friday.
Boys track and field
Lansing vs Trumansburg (Team scores available later.)
Eddy Potter was a triple winner for Lansing, taking first in the 1,600, 800 and 3,200 and brother Henry Potter was a winner in the 110 hurdles and 400 for Lansing.
